Corey Rogers - Syntax Records

Biography

Corey Rogers was born in Chicago, Illinois and later relocated to New Jersey known as NuJerus to the locals. On Easter 1990, he realized that he was a sinner in need of a Savior and accepted Jesus as Lord of his life. Since Hip Hop was a big part of his old self, he was quickly introduced to SFC for his listening pleasure.

While attending College at Lincoln University in 1995, He felt the Lord directing him to represent the Word through the music he enjoyed.  He formed a group called SNL, (Soldier N tha LORD) which consisted of DAVID, J-ROC, ADRIAN, HENDRICK, and CROG, who is now know as Corey Rogers. This group of brothers went from spot to spot touching hearts through the lyrics. The SNL eventually died out, but Corey kept on doing shows and writing lyrics whenever the opportunity presented itself.

During 1996 the influence of other Holy Hip-Hop groups increased as well as his desire to get the message out through lyrics representing Christ. He saw the negative influence secular hip-hop had on his friends and family. Wanting to counteract the negative messages with lyrics to live by, Corey set out to reach into the hearts and minds of his fellow brothers. Corey wanted touch people right where they were, the streets — selling crack, shooting craps, getting ice, rocking “Tims” and living trifle.

The scripture that motivates Corey to move ahead with his calling is the great commission to the disciples.

Matthew 28:19 Go, therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; Go…and teach them, in all nations.”

In 2000 A.D., Corey is ‘go’ing with the gospel fresh on his lips, teaching the hearts of the lost how much they are loved. Like the disciples, Corey started in his hometown, and is soon to impact the world through mighty words.
